5 Years
Jayati Mukherjee
Jayati brings her years of training in Hindustani Classical music to bear in her performances across US. She has done several shows in the East Coast with visiting Bollywood artists. Jayati started music at the early age of 7 years. Born in a family which was deeply involved in music, Jayati began her music training under the tutalge of her father Shri Krishna Chakravarty who was an accomplished musician who played the piano, harmonium, flute and many other instruments. Jayati's mother Smt. Binota Chakravarty was an accomplished singer during the 50's and 60's giving playback in many Bengali movies under such stalwarts like Pankaj Mullick and Ravi Shankar.
Rated 5.0 My 6-year old daughter and I go for music lessons to Jayati Mukherjee's house. Jayati Di shares her immense knowledge of music with great humility and pride. She teaches basic concepts, and singing skills in a manner, breaking them down so that they are easy to capture and incorporate. Her classes are an ode to the depth and richness of Hindustani Classical Music, she delves deep into her wisdom and experience to teach. Her respect for music translates in her articulate teaching. She brings her music to the table with politeness and inspiration. The singing techniques she shares, along with her suggestions have experience behind them, but she passes them on with ease.
Rated 5.0 My daughter has been learning for almost more than a year and Jayati Di has been fabulous....She tries to create interest among the kids for Music which helps them to learn....
Rated 5.0 My daughter has always wanted to take voice lessons and we are very lucky to have found a great teacher like Jayati. Jayati has a lot of experience working with very young kids, in fact my daughter started training under her at the age of 7. Jayati is not only very knowledgeable, but also has tremendous patience. She is very dedicated and committed to each student and as a parent I can see that she always gives more than 100% in my child. Jayati works with each child very patiently and help them overcome their weaknesses through sheer encouragement and assertiveness. Her classes are an hour long and she spends it one-on-one with each child so you know your child is getting personal attention and a learning speed suited to that specific child. Her classes are very balanced - children learn raagas and other techniques plus they get to sing a Bollywood song karaoke, which is a lot of fun for them. The difficulty level in each Bollywood song increases, so the children actually get to apply what they learn, all while enjoying themselves. The classes are so much fun that my daughter hates it when a class is cancelled/rescheduled (Did I mention Jayati is very flexible in accommodating parent’s busy schedule?). Moreover, all of Jayati’s students get multiple opportunities throughout the year to perform solos on stage that help build their self -confidence. Lastly, the class is very affordable and is totally worth it. I highly recommend her to anyone interested in voice lessons.
Rated 5.0 Not just an excellent teacher, but also a great person! Lucky to have known her for almost an year now, through a friend. She works with different age group of kids and grown-ups, and puts her heart in making each one of them excel in their level of competence. What I like the most about her is her patience and her affection towards all of her students. She never gives up and works with them diligently until complete perfection is reached, be it the entire song or just a small section of a song.
Rated 5.0 We have been going to Jayati's singing class for four years. She is an excellent teacher with a lot of patience. Under her guidance , my kids have started appreciating the Hindustani music.
