Abishak Kodi Academic Tutor

I consider myself a Californian and have lived in the East Bay for the majority of my life. After high school, I attended UC Davis, where I studied Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. I’ve always been fascinated by science, and studying with renowned professors and accomplished peers was the experience of a lifetime. In addition, I worked as a researcher in a microbiology lab and a nurses’ aid at Sacramento Memorial Hospital. After graduating, I worked with Google for its self-driving car program, and I can proudly say that I am one of a handful of people with an autonomous car license! In my experience as a tutor, I’ve seen that no two students learn the same way. Understanding each student’s unique learning style is crucial to explaining concepts in a manner that will make the material more applicable and more enjoyable. I strive to illuminate the structure of the questions such that they become demystified. Once my students familiarize themselves with the format of each section, practice and coaching become highly effective, especially in the 1-on-1 environment provided at AJ. I am also a big fan of board games such as Settlers of Catan, Munchkin, and Mafia.
