My personal approach to education is to emphasize qualitative understanding over quantitative instruction. I greatly enjoy 1:1 tutoring because it can provide a high level of engagement while directly addressing a pupil’s gaps in understanding that can be difficult for a general classroom teacher to do with large classes. I also enjoy thinking about the future of education in our country and how educators can make use of the breadth of pedagogical knowledge combined with our latest technology. In college, I discovered my passions for mathematics, computer science, and education. I deeply enjoyed learning difficult concepts and crafting sophisticated programs as a student, but I found the greatest satisfaction in sharing my knowledge and supporting students as a tutor and a teaching assistant. I was continually inspired by the curiosity and potential of my students, and I grew as a teacher in my ability to connect and foster growth for each student in a unique way.
