Therapists at GOALS: Lakshmi Jagannathan is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (California pre-license 134401) for the GOALS Foundation. She works under the supervision of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Denise Henderson License (California license LMFT43409) Hello! I am Lakshmi. I grew up in India, and came to the US for grad school. I have an MS in Plant Sciences and an MA in Counseling Psychology. I believe that an individual is never the problem. We are all connected to the human community with its strengths and weaknesses, which shape who we are. So I use an integrated approach that takes family and societal factors into account including aspects such as intergenerational trauma and discrimination. As an immigrant, I am also sensitive to the impact of acculturation on people and use a multicultural approach when needed. I have also had experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals from minority populations and can help them navigate cultural pressures. I like a collaborative approach and trust in the wisdom of the client to lead the way. I use play and art therapy, so children can feel at ease as they communicate and process their feelings. I also have Reiki Master and teacher certification and I have had several years of training in different modalities of meditation. I use mindfulness and somatosensory interventions that are evidence-based in my work. As the poet Hafiz said, I hope with me you will discover "The Astonishing Light of Your Own Being"
