I am a Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and choreographer from India based in San Francisco for the past 4 years. I have been teaching kids this art form for over 9 years in India. My technical training of this art form was strengthened after having done my bachelor's degree from Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya. I believe dance cannot be learnt just by itself, so it is important for the kids to understand these various - Body strengthening - Prayers - Story-telling from Mythology and how it can be exhibited in dance - Talam It is a constant learning for me as a teacher as well. As much as a student gains from a class the teacher has learnt something new as well. It is a way of giving back to the cultural society from which I have gained so much. I am currently also training under Guru Shri Vaibhav Arekar from India and travel with his dance company across the globe and currently working as a freelancer with Nava Dance Theatre in San Francisco. I am available for private classes during the day or evenings (on an appointment basis).
