Houston Maharashtra Mandal
The Houston Maharashtra Mandal (HMM) is a group formed by Marathi speaking people of Maharashtra, India now residing in Houston, Texas. HMM has successfully organized many fundraising and community service activities. One of the biggest achievements of HMM was to host the BMM Convention in 1995. Approximately 2,700 Maharashtrian families in U.S. and Canada attended this convention. As the number of families started increasing, the Mandal organized several cultural, musical, and sports events. HMM members organized one/three act plays and other musical events/plays which were received very well by attendees. Some of these events were later organized outside Houston and some were later organized outside U.S.
