DOC’S CAKE SHOP, originally founded as Doc D’s Southern Desserts by Darrell Oswald Christopher Darwood in 2010 at the age of 25, opened the main location in Bedford Stuyvesant in March of 2012. Darrell, also known as Doc, received his grandmother’s (Joyce Darwood) recipes for which he improved upon and became the basis of his business. Being taught at a young age to bake by his grandmother, whom he calls “Grams”. Doc has always had rave reviews when it came to his production of food or dessert for family, friends, and church members. By age 27, Doc began his venture to satisfy many people’s taste buds with a rich moist flavorful taste of the south and to hold each dessert to its original intent and this company’s mission: to create a real southern-like dessert. Doc has trained bakers with his signature, and partly secret, style of baking that keeps customers of all ages returning week after week and day after day. DOC’S CAKE SHOP has now grown into a multi-million dollar corporation located in and servicing Brooklyn, New York, and neighboring states.
