In 1986, Carey Carter, Mitchell Barnes, and Perri Higbie joined their talent, experience, and style by creating one of the most acclaimed salons in Atlanta: Carter • Barnes Hair Artisans. They designed the stunning flagship location, which opened May 5, 1987 in Atlanta’s premiere shopping center, Phipps Plaza. Carter • Barnes on Paces followed, opening in April of 1996 in the heart of Buckhead and is home to a staff of 20. Both salons are full-service salons, specializing in industry leading hair design; including a variety of coloring techniques, cutting, styling, and special occasion services. Full spas offer pampering experiences from facials, massage, and waxings to manicures and pedicures to make-up specialized for any occasion. Over the years, Carter • Barnes Hair Artisans has grown a stellar reputation in our industry in the US and around the world. We have worked with such hair and high fashion names as Armani, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Versace, Escada, Jeffery’s, Vera Wang, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karen, and Calvin Klein. Carter Barnes has been featured in numerous publications including Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, American Salon, Studio and Modern Salon, and Family Circle Magazine. Carter • Barnes attended Hair World (the hair Olympics) three times, was awarded the Glamour Award in 2002 by The Fashion Group Institute, and is the official hair salon for the Atlanta Apparel Mart.
