At Nupur center students are introduced to folk dance too which is fun way of understanding the culture of different states.

Nupur Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) was founded by Mrs. Rupa who has a Masters degree in classical dance from University of Bombay. She started the center in 1988 in Mumbai, India, with a vision to expose the richness of Indian culture and heritage through the medium of dance. She continued her passion with the same zeal after migrating to USA in 2002 and is helping in enriching our next generation of Indo American students learn this divine art and understand the deep rooted culture behind it. Ms. Rupa has been imparting her knowledge of the classical dance form of Bharatanatyam successfully for the past 30 years. At Nupur students are given a solid base in Bharatanatyam, a classical dance style from the southern state of India. Folk dances of India, Kuchipudi and semi classical fusion is also introduced eventually. Ms. Rupa has taken on a lifelong mission to expose the richness of Indian culture and heritage through the medium of dance. To her students, she is the giver of identity, self pride, cultural enlightenment, grace, discipline, and celebration of beauty, friendship, and admiration. Reach out today to learn more about the classes we offer and how to get involved. The dance school focuses on achieving exceptional standards of Indian Classical dance. We believe in nurturing creativity and artistic development, and offer a warm and positive environment to foster the growth that all aspiring dancers want and need. Students at Nupur are trained in the art while maintaining its pristine purity. Constant effort is made to make the teaching as effective and interesting as possible, in the traditional Gurukul way, without compromising on the technical aspects of style. It aims not just to teach dance for the year-end recital or performing at various events but to also introduce many skills necessary to become an accomplished and astute learner for years to come.
Rated 5.0 Completing my Arangetram was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Ms.Rupa is such a huge inspiration, and I enjoyed every minute of working with her. She is kind and generous, yet she expects a lot out of her dancers. Not only did I learn several dances, I also gained valuable skills like time management and discovered the true art of solo performing. Completing my Arangetram was a dream come true, and I will always cherish each moment.
Rated 5.0 Bharatanatyam being one of the most respected dance forms, I am honored to be a student of Ms.Rupa. Learning this dance from a young age in my life allowed me to learn and express the stories of Hinduism through dance. We are taught to express happiness, anger, fear, and sadness through our facial expressions. I’m extremely thankful to be able to learn and perfect such a beautiful dance form like Bharatanatyam
Rated 5.0 Bharathanatyam has taught me discipline, dedication, and perseverance. This intricate art form has opened my eyes to a rich Indian culture and an honorable heritage. I am honored to be a student of Ms.Rupa and I am forever thankful for the talent that she has instilled in me
Rated 5.0 Santosh and I? put our daughter’s Ishika and Krithika I?n Bhartanatyam classes from when they was 5 years old. Over the years Ishika has grown as a dancer and has learned the beauty of classical dance. Her guru, Rupa took Ishika in as one of her own and immediately made her feel comfortable and connected with Ishika over the years just as a second mother. Ishika did her arangetram at the end of her freshman year I?n high school after 10 years of learning and perfecting Bhartanatyam. We are very proud of the way she took an interest I?n classical dance as something to keep I?n touch with her culture. Rupa motivated her to learn more about the dance form and Ishika occasionally helps out teaching dance classes to young children. Our younger daughter, Krithika has also taken an interest I?n dance and started since she was young. She looked up to her sister as her inspiration and loves dancing as well. She aspires to someday have her big arangetram just like her sister. Our daughters journey through dance with Rupa has been one we are thankful for
Rated 5.0 Nupur Center of Performing Arts (NCPA) and Ms.Rupa will always have a special place in my heart. I took my daughter to visit Rupa when she was 5 years old. My daughter was a student in the school and achieved many dance milestones as a result; however the lasting feeling for both my daughter and me is one of great love, deep gratitude, admiration and respect for NCPA. Through the years, I saw my daughter’s personal growth extend beyond the art itself – under her teacher’s guidance as a true – Guru and Shishya relationship. And when all is said and done, it is the relationship that is ever-lasting even when the dance comes to an end
