Tawkir received his Juris Doctor, with honors and Pro Bono Honors, in 2022 from The University of Chicago Law School. At the University of Chicago, he served as an Articles Editor on The University of Chicago Legal Forum, as Vice President of the South Asian Law Students Association, and as Vice President of First Generation Professionals. While in law school, Tawkir worked in the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Clinic where he delivered a closing argument at an evidentiary hearing. He also served as a Research Assistant to Professor John Rappaport and as legal intern for the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York and the Queens County District Attorney’s Office.
