Dr. Tamara Relis has been a lawyer since 1998. She has represented over 100 cases in courts as a trial lawyer (barrister/litigation). She has won 5 elite postdoctoral awards based on her preparation of applications involving legal research-based work (ESRC, BA, Columbia University/LSE). She is the author of Clients' Perceptions in Litigation and Mediation (Cambridge University Press 2009, 2011), which focuses on how lawyers and the legal system must improve to meet clients' needs, and The Purchase of Human Rights (Oxford University Press, forthcoming). She has been a Postdoctoral Legal Researcher (Columbia University Law & LSE Law & South Asia Centre) and a US law Professor of Evidence, of Human Rights, and of Conflict Resolution.
Tamara's work and awards focus on human rights and clients' rights, for more attention to people's needs within justice systems. Her work is taught in law schools around the world. She has been invited globally since 1998 to speak about her work and deep concern for justice for individuals in difficult circumstances in Japan, China, USA, Canada, England, Scotland, France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Botswana, Mexico and South Africa.
