Her practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, government investigations and regulatory enforcement, and complex litigation. Avni has represented individuals and corporate entities in federal, state, and local criminal and regulatory matters. At Walden Macht & Haran, Avni is part of the trial team representing a corporate client in a high profile public corruption case pending in the Southern District of New York (SDNY). She also is part of the WMH team representing one of the most significant whistleblowers in sports history. WMH’s representation of the client, and his cooperation, directly resulted in the International Olympic Committee’s decision to ban the Russian National Olympic Team from competing under its national flag in the 2018 Winter Olympics due to his unveiling of a state-sponsored doping program in Russia. Additionally, Avni is working with Bart M. Schwartz, on his assignment as the independent monitor named by the U.S. Department of Justice, to oversee General Motors’ compliance with its obligations under the deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) stemming from its recall of defective ignition switches.
