Yes, 100% of our sweets and 95% of our savory snacks are vegetarian. We never use animal-based gelatin (which is common in some commercial marshmallows or gummy sweets). Our Rasgulla and Ras Malai are set using chenna (paneer-like cheese) and traditional techniques, not gelatin. Our samosa dough is made with ghee and flour—no egg wash. The only non-vegetarian items we sell are a limited number of chicken curry dishes (for lunch specials), which are clearly labeled and kept in a separate section.

Refrigerate milk-based sweets like Gulab Jamun, Ras Malai, Gajar ka Halwa, and Barfi (except Kaju Katli, which can be stored at room temperature in winter). Keep them in an airtight container. Before eating, let them come to room temperature for 15 minutes, or gently warm Gulab Jamun in the microwave for 10 seconds. Dry sweets like Kaju Katli, Motichoor Laddu, and Besan Laddu can be stored at room temperature in a cool, dry cupboard for 5-7 days. Do not refrigerate dry sweets—they absorb moisture and become sticky.

Yes, we offer nationwide shipping for shelf-stable sweets. This includes Kaju Katli, Badam Barfi, Pista Barfi, Motichoor Laddu, Besan Laddu, and dry namkeen (Aloo Bhujia, Sev). We cannot ship fresh, milk-based sweets (Ras Malai, Gulab Jamun in syrup, Gajar Halwa) because they require refrigeration and would spoil in transit. Yes, we offer a limited selection of sugar-free sweets made with stevia or sucralose (Splenda). These include Sugar-Free Kaju Katli, Sugar-Free Besan Laddu, and Sugar-Free Barfi. Please note: the texture and taste are different from our traditional sweets (sugar provides moisture and structure). We recommend ordering a small sample (1/4 lb) before committing to a large box for a diabetic relative. We do not guarantee that these are suitable for all diabetics—please consult your doctor.

Technically, nothing. Kaju Katli (literally "cashew slice") is a type of Kaju Barfi (cashew fudge). Some regions use "Katli" to refer specifically to the thin, diamond-shaped slices, while "Barfi" is the broader category of fudge-like sweets. At Maharaja Sweets, we use the names interchangeably. If you ask for Kaju Barfi, you will receive the same diamond-shaped, silver-leaf-topped sweet as Kaju Katli.

For large orders (50+ lbs of mithai or 500+ samosas), please give us minimum 7 days' notice. For very large weddings (200+ lbs), 14 days' notice is ideal. We make everything fresh, and we need time to source extra nuts, khoya, and ghee. For a standard 2-5 lb gift box, walk-ins are always welcome (no notice needed). For weekend deliveries, we recommend ordering by Wednesday.

Yes. All our sweets and savory snacks are halal-certified. We do not use alcohol in any of our flavorings (no vanilla extract with alcohol, etc.). Our limited chicken curry dishes are prepared with halal chicken. We do not serve pork or beef products of any kind. Our ghee is from halal-certified dairies.

Our samosas are best eaten within 2 hours of purchase while they are still crispy. If you need to store them: refrigerate for up to 2 days. To reheat: place in an air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes, or in a regular oven at 375°F for 8-10 minutes. Do NOT microwave—they become soggy. For large party orders, we recommend scheduling pickup as close to your event start time as possible.

Yes, some. Gulab Jamun (made with khoya and a small amount of flour—contains gluten), Ras Malai (chenna-based, gluten-free), Kaju Katli (ground cashews, gluten-free), Besan Laddu (chickpea flour, gluten-free), Gajar Halwa (carrots and milk, gluten-free). Our samosas, kachoris, and pakoras contain gluten (chickpea batter for pakoras is gluten-free, but cross-contamination is possible in shared fryers). If you have celiac disease, please speak to our manager about which items are prepared in dedicated gluten-free areas.

Yes, we have a small café area with 6-8 tables. You can order fresh chaat, samosas, pakoras, and chai and eat on-site. It is casual, fast, and popular during lunch hours (12 PM – 2 PM) and weekend afternoons. We do not take reservations; it is first-come, first-served. Many customers also order takeout and eat at nearby Travers Park (2 blocks away) on nice days.
