Alankaar Music Academy was established in OMAHA (Nebraska), in 1999, with a sole aim of teaching Indian Classical and devotional music, in a systematic manner. The training program has been designed to teach Indian Music like a subject in a modern classroom. The lecture notes, notations of compositions and other reading material are distributed to every student beforehand, so that the student need not spend time in writing. The lecture room is fully equipped with a computer, Electronic key board, Harmonium, Tabla, voice recorder and player, Electronic Tabla, Electronic Taanpura, and a reference library. Students are allowed to record the lessons on their personal cellphones. In the year 2010, the Academy was shifted to GOODYEAR (Arizona) and is catering to the needs of greater Phoenix area.With nearly 40 years of teaching experience, Amrita Khurana is a recognized expert in the area of teaching Indian vocal and classical music. For 20 years, she served as a senior music teacher, at Guru Harkrishan Public school, India, where she taught Indian classical music, light music, shabads/ Bhajans, patriotic songs, folk songs, harmonium, key board and taanpura to students of all grades, from kindergarten to class XII.
