Tarana School Of Kathak

Students who have finished their Beginner and Development studies will be invited to join the Advanced kathak class. In the advanced class the student will focus more on performing experiences while focusing on Abhinaya (acting), choreography, and fusion dance all of which bring forth their individual creativity. In this level students will build a solid foundation and technique in kathak which will take them to achieve their dream.

In this class student will learn the basic technique of Kathak such as- Laya (tempo), Taal (beats) such as Teental (16 beats), Namaskar, Tatkar (footwork), Hand movement, Chaal (stylized way of walking), Chakra (spin), Abhinaya (acting) through Gat and Gat Bhava, and Bols (composition) like-Toda, Tukda, Amad, Salami and Paran. The cultural influences and history of kathak is also teach in this class.

Students who have completed their Beginner Kathak techniques may move to this level. In the intermediate class students will learn the next level of skills, with more complicated repertoire. They are expected to perform this material in different Taals. Also, they will increasingly focus on expression and Abhinaya (acting) through Vandana, Bhajan, Thumri, Tarana, Gat Bhav, Kabit etc.

This class is designed exclusively for our adult students. We offer this class to our range of adult/working professional students who never had chances to fulfill their dream of learning Kathak in their childhood or early ages. We customize the classes for them combining portions from all of the above three courses to achieve their dream of become a kathak expert.

We offer special classes for the students who are interested to become a professional kathak stage performer. We specially designed this class to get over the stage fear, idea of right stage position, and keep consistent technique, stamina, and expression on stage. We encourage students to consider taking this class besides their regular classes. (For students who have completed at least two years of kathak studies with TSK).
