She and her husband Prakash Rao specialize in Carnatic Vocal Music Classes taught in the traditional way, with emphasis on tonal quality, diction, raga-bhavam, rhythm and melody. They also offer classes in veena, flute and mridangam in our schools. The teachers in their music school, are a family of performing musicians ourselves, and have trained students who have become concert-musicians &/or teachers in vocal, veena, the flute, and the mridangam. Having learnt from doyens of Carnatic music Sangeeta Acharya Smt. Suguna Varadachari and Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. N. Ramani, Dr. Bhavani Prakash is an A-grade artist of Chennai All India Radio and Doordarshan. Dr. Bhavani has been performing in public since she was 12, performing on radio since she was 15, won the National Award of All India Radio for classical music when she was 17 and won coveted awards from main music organizations like the Music Academy and Krishna Gana Sabha when she was 19-21 years of age in Chennai, the main hub of Carnatic music. She has performed more than 1700 concerts in India, US, Singapore & France.
