Kavitha Bhagat is a Senior Attorney at The Costas Network Law Center, LLC. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and served as the Executive Editor of its Journal of International Law. Prior to joining The Costas Network Law Center, LLC, Ms. Bhagat was employed as an Attorney Advisor with the United States Department of Justice at the Miami Immigration Court. There, she advised and worked directly for immigration judges, drafted orders concerning a wide variety of immigration issues, including motions, asylum, adjustment of status, and cancellation of removal, amongst others. Ms. Bhagat’s significant experience in the immigration sector provides her the practical experience and background to effectively serve her clients. At The Costas Network Law Center, LLC, Ms. Bhagat has significant experience representing detained clients, and has been successful in securing their release from detention. She also specializes in family-based immigration cases Ms. Bhagat’s interest in immigration law stems from her desire to assist others and her background as a first-generation American. She studied International Relations and Law, Politics & Society at Drake University, graduating magna cum laude. During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Bhagat attended American University in Washington D.C. to study peace and conflict resolution. She also worked with a refugee resettlement program, which sparked her interest in immigration and asylum law. After graduating from Drake University, Ms. Bhagat taught English for a year in China and worked at a non-profit in Massachusetts. Ms. Bhagat also spent a semester in law school interning with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands. These experiences have provided Ms. Bhagat with a global perspective and have reaffirmed her desire to work in immigration law.
