I am family law attorney Lela Davis and I have practiced law in Illinois for nearly 30 years. In addition to my decades of experience as a lawyer, I also have an extensive background in management, administration, negotiations and contracts. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and my Master of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University. I received my Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College, where I was a member of the law review. I am currently a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Black Women's Bar Association. Since 1990, I have been certified as an arbitrator for the Cook County Court System. At my firm, the Law Office of Lela J. Davis in Cook County, Illinois, I focus primarily on family law. I routinely represent clients in contested divorces, which often involve disputes regarding property division, child custody and child support, as well as clients seeking guidance regarding adoptions, establishing paternity and guardianships. I also advise and represent clients in real estate, probate and estate, and litigation matters. My varied experience allows me to provide knowledgeable advice to my clients, no matter the issues they may be facing.
