About Deepa Kannappan

Deepa Kannappan is a litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP, where her practice encompasses IP litigation, including patent disputes in the life sciences industry. Her current caseload includes a pharmaceutical dispute between Genentech, Inc. and Sanofi S.A. and a medical diagnostic case between Ariosa Diagnostics, Inc. and Illumina, Inc. Ms. Kannappan also maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing primarily on immigration law. Ms. Kannappan participated in the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic in law school where she successfully terminated deportation proceedings for her client fleeing domestic abuse and gang threats in El Salvador. At Irell, Ms. Kannappan recently helped obtain asylum for a persecuted LGBTQ Ghanaian immigrant. Ms. Kannappan earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School.
