Tapas received his Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary’s School of Law in 2015. He graduated cum laude and was inducted into St. Mary’s distinguished John M. Harlan Society, an honorary organization that recognizes students who have excelled academically and graduate in the top 10% of their class. While at St. Mary’s, Tapas competed in numerous negotiation competitions under the tutelage of Allen T. Craddock, an active behavioral consultant for law enforcement agencies who provides onsite crisis negotiation intervention and specializes in behavioral manipulation, interpretation and interrogation (body language and lie detection). Tapas also served on the St. Mary’s Law Journal as a staff writer and later as an editor, earning several awards. In law school, Tapas served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Edward C. Prado of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, where he researched and drafted numerous civil and criminal opinions. Tapas also worked as a research assistant for Professors Colin Marks and Angela Walch. Prior to law school Tapas clerked for Chamberlain Hrdlicka, a U.S. News “Tier 1” tax litigation firm.
