As a former NCAA Division I student-athlete, Aalok understands the risks – and rewards – of being in the sports, media, and entertainment industries. Sports technology companies trust Aalok to counsel them in matters relating to fan engagement, esports, data analytics, sports gambling, and AR/VR. By leveraging his accounting experience, Aalok effectively counsels his clients to mitigate litigation risk. Aalok is frequently involved in bet-the-company litigation, including, but not limited to, theft of trade secrets and shareholder disputes. Aalok has significant experience in general business litigation, construction litigation, and products liability litigation. Aalok has appeared multiple times before appellate courts, including an appearance before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.Prior to becoming an attorney, Aalok worked as a certified public accountant in Washington, D.C. In particular, Aalok assisted financial companies in the areas of troubled debt restructuring, recognition of built-in-gains/losses, and footnote disclosure related to uncertain tax positions. In college, he was twice selected as a member of the Big South Conference Academic All-Conference team, and held several school records at the 1500 meter and 8000 meter distance.Aalok is active in the Twin Cities, and frequently works with organizations driven to give back to the community. He currently serves as a board member for the Minnesota Zoo Foundation Associates Board, and the Minnesota Twins Baseball Club Community Fund. Aalok serves on the Standing Committee for the ABA Forum on Sports.
