Monica Whitmer
Monica Whitmer is a lifetime horsewoman. She began her career at age 4 - riding with the Tally Ho Riding Club in Griffith Park, California. This was a Pony Club style organization that taught horsemanship as well as English riding. She also rode ponies and misfit horses at "Haskel's Rascals" a small rental stable just down the street from her school. Her first pony was a POA that no one could ride. "Forte" would buck wildly when mounted, so at age 10, she figured out that if you just laid over his back until he gave up, then you could get on and ride. After a few months, he was fairly reformed, and given back to the owner of the stable. We offer private rides in our beautiful Vis A Vis carriage for weddings, birthdays, quinceaneras, and more. We can often be found providing rides at Antelope Valley Winery and on The Blvd as well. Arrive at your next special event in style - contact us today for rates and availability.
Rated 5.0 I have been riding at at Sweetwater Ranch for 10 years - it's the real deal. This place is a hidden gem out here in the AV. Monica's knowledge is incredible - she doesn't just teach riders to "perch" she creates real, classically correct, balanced riders. She took me from my first lesson to jumping 4'+ with many year end championships. I cannot recommend this ranch enough. Stop by sometime - it will be one of the best decisions you make.
Rated 5.0 I loved it the second I entered the parking lot. I was greeted by very nice doggies and Monica was very professional, kind and simply amazing. My daughter started riding lessons and we will definitely continue. This is the happy place to be. As the German in me would say: "Das Glueck der Erde liegt auf dem Ruecken der Pferde" which means that the greatest happiness on earth is on the back of a horse. We are super happy!
Rated 5.0 Monica was my riding instructor 25 years ago and I've never forgotten her approach to teaching. She's such a great instructor that now 25 years later I've decided to drive an hour to bring my 10 year old for hunter/jumper lessons. My daughter also loves Monica's teaching style and Sweetwater Ranch has some great lesson horses. I can't tell you how much it thrills me to have my daughter taking lessons from the same riding instructor I had as a teenager. Thanks Monica and the rest of the Sweetwater Ranch crew.
