We are Johanna, Dave, Brody, and Nora Trass, owners of the High Desert Aussies in Bend, Oregon. Together we raise AKC and ASCA registered Australian Shepherds. We've been breeding Aussies for show and sport for nearly 30 years. We love sharing our home and life with our wonderful dogs. Each member of our family spends many hours weekly with each puppy and adult dog. We are invested in producing the healthiest, smartest and happiest Aussies we can. Johanna Trass was a Vet-Tech for many years and has both the experience and compassion to properly breed and manage canine health. All her female dogs give birth to their litters inside her home, and the puppies spend their first weeks inside the home with her family. She feels an ethical obligation to limit her females to a maximum of five litters, at which point they are most often donated to a loving family to live a happy life as a regular dog. Once they have arrived as the breeder planned, we must take care of them with diligence and sincerity. We as a family work to perfect this task on a daily basis. Genetic health, disposition, conformation and coat color (the icing on the cake!) are most important to us. Show ring ability is NOT our focus, but an added bonus.

Rated 4.0 Sadie, is just so sweet and loving. We got her at 4 months and Johanna already had potty trained her and crate trained her. She was all up-to-date on her vaccines and came with thorough paper work on all the information we needed to know, including her parents/bloodline. We were also new dog parents, so she answered any and all questions asked, without hesitation, for as long as we needed her to. If you are considering an adopting an Aussie, I highly recommend High Desert Aussies.
Rated 4.0 I would suggest going to a hobby breeder who has had only 1 or 2 litters per year because of "careful selection" and pedigrees that go back more than 50 years "on paper" and breed only for the betterment of the breed. With all sires and dams titled in AKC and ASCA working and show to prove they are strong minds and body.
Rated 4.0 Its been 1 year now since I picked up my puppy from High Desert Aussies!! I am so happy with him. He is so loving, healthy, and handsome. He is the best adventure buddy!!! Thank you high desert Aussies!
