Dr. Saini is a gastroenterologist and health services researcher with a long-standing interest in appropriate use of resource-limited medical procedures, such as colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. His recent work has focused on two high-impact areas in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening: (1) developing and implementing a benefit-based, targeted approach to CRC screening; and (2) developing and implementing clinically sensitive performance measures to enhance appropriate use of CRC screening. He uses a variety of methodological approaches in his work, including simulation modeling, mixed-methods, and implementation science. Dr. Saini currently serves as the Chair of IHPI’s Early Career Faculty Advisory Committee (ECFAC). Additionally, he serves as Director of the Gastroenterology Junior Faculty Health Services Research Mentoring Program (JF2K) and Associate Director of the NIH T32 GI Epidemiology Training Program at the University of Michigan, and Co-Director of the Mentoring Core at the VA Ann Arbor HSR&D Center for Clinical Management Research (CCMR). He is also the Colorectal Cancer Screening Workgroup Lead for the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Quality Measures Committee.
