Judging

Every Golu Has a Story

There’s more to a Golu than the dolls on the steps. Our judges will look at the thought, tradition, creativity, and story behind each entry. Five standout Golu celebrations will be selected after the contest closes.

    Originality of the concept, arrangement and visual storytelling.

  2. Tradition & Cultural Connection

    How naturally the traditions, family customs and cultural meaning come through.

  3. Story Behind the Golu

    The memories, meaning that makes your Golu special.

  4. Visual Presentation

    Photo/video quality, composition and ability to capture the celebration.

  5. Community Engagement

    The number of likes and shares your entry receives from friends and family.

  6. Tradition & Adaptation

    How the family keeps the tradition alive while making it their own in the US & Canada.

Rules

Before You Share

Take a quick look at what you need to submit, the contest dates and what happens after you share your celebration.

Who can take part?
  • Open to Indians and NRIs living in the United States & Canada, of any age.
  • Minors may participate through a parent or guardian.
What should an entry include?
  • Each entry must include an original photo or video of up to 30 seconds, along with a caption or story.
  • Entries must be original.
How do I enter?
  • Submit through the official Sulekha contest page before the final deadline — October 31, 2026.
How are winners chosen?
  • The top five winners will be selected by the Sulekha US & Canada judging panel, and the judges' decision is final.
  • Winners will be announced within seven days after the contest closes.
