Being a non-dancer, I’ve been on the lookout to exposing my (then) 4 year old to different dance forms. Dipanwita and Kaleidoscope Dance Academy was introduced to me through a mutual friend and I’ve not looked back since then (it’s been a couple years). Dipanwita has been grooming my daughter through various nuances of Bharatnatyam (Indian classical form) dance techniques, expressing ideas & songs creatively and providing opportunities to perform thus boosting confidence & reinforcing learning. She looks forward to learning something new in each class and strengthening her bond with her guru (Dipanwita) & dance friends.

I’m Payel. I’m a Bharatanatyam dancer. Started learning from 4 and half year of my age.Now I’m staying in Lewis Center, Columbus, Ohio, USA. After moving from India I was looking for Indian creative and classical dance school, where I can continue my practice and cherish my dream. So after few weeks I found Dipanwita(di) Sengupta Roy and kaleidoscope dance academy. She’s my guru and I get guidance from her like an elder sister. My 7 years old daughter also started learning Indian creative dance and Bharatanatyam from November 2023. And my younger daughter she’s 3 years old, she’ll be joining dance class from May,2024. What I have felt about Dipanwita di is she has great source of knowledge in theory and practical in both dance forms. This, completely goes with those who are fortunate to even kick-start dancing after years. I have been learning Bharatnatyam since i was 2 years old, but had to discontinue. Never in my slightest fantasies, thought i could continue it here, Abroad!! All credits goes to my Guru-Ma: Dr Dipanwita Sengupta Roy, whose language of dance lifted the veil in me to continue weaving the tingles of dance even after years. Kaleidoscope Dance Academy is a temple of art that primarily teaches Creative Dance and Bharatnatyam. Dr. Dipanwita Sengupta Roy who is a scientist by profession is also a Dance Maestro and founder of Kaleidoscope Dance Academy. She is the pioneer in introducing Indian Creative Dance in Ohio, USA and has been sharing her passion for dance in the form of teaching students (all ages irrespective of their experience and expertise in the field). I have been very fortunate to be able to learn from our very dear Dipanwita Didi (as we call her) and have her as my Dance Guru. Not only is she an exceptionally graceful dancer herself, but also an excellent teacher. She is very patient and teaches her students with love and passion. It is amazing to see the little kids and teenagers perform as gracefully as the older students. One of the many things that makes this group unique is there are students with different levels of expertise (with or without previous dance experience), students who have always wanted to dance but for some reason could never pursue their passion, students who had to distance themselves from dance for some reason-Kaleidoscope Dance Academy brings them all together on one platform. It has been 4 years since I joined this dance group and it brings me joy in seeing it grow over the years as 1 big dance family. I watched the dance drama performance, The Dance to Destiny, performed by Kaleidoscope. It was a mesmerizing journey of passion, creativity, and storytelling of a little girl. It felt as though she was fulfilling a long-awaited destiny, one shaped by her deep love for dance. It was like opening the pages of an unread book and going through the excitement of unknown emotions. The music of life was reverberated in every episode of the presentation from the beginning to the end. The elegant moves and the choreography were a new addition to the current dance styles representing a brilliant fusion of contemporary and classical styles. The dancer’s elegant movements -sprints, gallops, leaps, twists and turns were gracefully presented with defined gestures painting a vivid picture of expressions. The coordination of eyes, ears, body, mind, and the heart was choreographed with detailed attention. Besides techniques, the emotional depth elicited the connection with the music enriching the presentation. The costumes, lighting, the set design, and the synchronization of the performers perfectly complemented the choreography and impacted the storytelling. The “dance to destiny” was a captivating display of artistry, precision, and emotion, leaving me profoundly moved. Overall, the “dance to destiny” is a masterful expression of storytelling depicting a little girl's love and passion for dance transformed to dream and destiny.

Since I joined Kaleidoscope, I have loved everyday with Guru Dipanwita Sengupta. She is not only a teacher but also makes me feel motivated and a part of her own family. I have been fortunate to learn Bharatnatyam and Creative Dancing under Guru Dipanwita Ma’am, and it has been a truly enriching experience. I’ve always wanted to learn an Indian classical dance form, and finding such an opportunity, especially while living abroad, is rare. Dipanwita Ma’am is an exceptional teacher who shows tremendous patience with her students. She focuses not only on the technical aspects but also on explaining the history, emotion, and spiritual meaning behind each movement. Even someone with no prior dance experience like me is able to grasp the skills easily. As students, we are also given the opportunity to perform at the annual recital, which is a wonderful event to showcase our talents and foster a spirit of collaboration. I joined kaleidoscope creative dance class in 2023 as a beginner . I consider myself lucky to be part of this dance group and to be guided and taught by my very talented guru Dipanwita Sengupta who happens to be a good friend . Dipanwita ji is highly talented in her field of dance. I'm proud my kids are her students, she teaches Bharatanatyam, creative dance forms with at most patience and dedication. She handled my kid right from the age of 3 and developed her interest towards dance in a very enjoyable manner. Tai, the BMM show was fantastic, I loved every bit of it! Your ardhanareshwar was mesmerizing. Ghunghat and panihari were also very powerful. The girls’ performances interspersed with your powerful ones perfectly struck a beautiful balance. We are so fortunate to have you here and have you as our guru. We are immensely blessed. The awe of watching your shows has not diminished for me despite watching them up close for almost two decades now.

Body alignment and riyaaaz I am loving it and best part is that she does everything as many as times till you get it People might not like her for being strict with Riyaaz but that’s what classical art form is all about I love her , she has knowledge depth of an ocean I am always excited / little nervous but prepared for her class . Archana Tai is the true Guru. There isn’t anyone else who has the strength, dedication, and in-depth vision like Tai does. She focuses on grooming every single student and brings out the beauty in them. She is so precise in her choreographies and even while teaching, she makes sure to explain everything to her students. We don’t just learn how to move our bodies; we learn all the terms, and the meaning behind what we perform, and the science and math behind what we do. Tai makes it her responsibility to explain what we’re learning and how it connects to us at that very moment. Through Tai’s guidance, we have been fortunate to have the opportunity to perform on many stages and partake in many workshops and events. I have been a student of Tai’s for 9 years now, and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to learn from her and to have her as my Guru.

Archana Arts is the best dance school for learning Kathak. If anybody wants to genuinely learn Kathak and hone the skills of the dance form, Archana Arts is the place. This school has a detailed curriculum, all the way from Beginners to Master’s level. Archana Arts embodies the rich culture of Indian heritage. Students are taught so much more than how to just move their bodies in rhythm. This school focuses on gracefulness and truly grooming the students into beautiful dancers. The knowledge of Archana Arts is vast and deep. It encompasses the technical side as well as the Bhav (expression) side of Kathak. This is the activity which helps your physical health and mental health. Anyone can learn this art form regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity.

As a student of six years at Archana Nrityalaya, I can proudly say that getting the opportunity to learn from Archana Tai has been one of the greatest blessings of my entire life. In fact, the impact of her tutelage, both in and outside of the classroom, cannot be quantified into the five stars of this rating. I highly doubt that it could be counted in thousands of them either. When I began learning with Archana Tai in sixth grade, I wasn’t very happy. Kathak dance had so many guidelines, so many rules. The dance required so much effort and discipline, and with Archana Tai as my guru, I had to strive for perfection. And I definitely was not disciplined or motivated enough to do it at that age, and it was because of my drawbacks that I almost considered quitting my tutelage. Today, I proudly say that continuing was one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made. The rules that I eventually internalized define my character today, in both dance and society. Every single lesson in her studio is test of the decorum she has taught and continues to teach me: Do I appear confident and strong every time I move my body to the rhythm? How about my hair, my attire? Have I dressed to succeed in class? And lest we forget, how am I reciting poems and compositions? Is my performance acceptable, or exemplary? Most importantly, how do I respond to my critiques? Do I dare to retaliate out of sheer impulse, or accept my mistakes and respect both my progress and my teacher’s wishes and try again? I face the questions every single day when I return, and try to make the right decisions as Tai has taught me. Yes, Tai can be strict. She pays attention to the nitty-gritty details, and strives for intense perfection. She may break down her students to begin, but rebuilds then into future dancers and leaders. Her endless care for her students is reflected in every single conversation she has with her students. These attributes that distinguish her from other teachers and academies. The schooling that we students receive here is arguably beyond any other Kathak education we can receive. Here, we learn to push the boundaries the boundaries of ourselves and dance, so that we can do the same in life. Thank you, Archana Tai. For everything you have taught me and will continue to to teach me both inside and outside of your classroom.

They say your Guru is your ‘Marg Darshak’, so for a classical dance form like Kathak, it was an obvious choice for us to go to Archana Tai. This is the perfect place for letting your child’s childhood flourish while they learn this beautiful dance form. Each child is given individual attention to make sure, they have the right pronounciation, Bhav, posture etc. We are seeing our beautiful little girls turn into graceful dancers with each passing year. And you know that you made the right choice when your child is begging you for summer camp after a full rigorous year of the Kathak. Archana Nrityalaya is not a dance school but an extended family for us.

I have been associated with ArchanaTai and her dance school for over 10+ years through my daughter who learns Kathak with her. Typically, I am a person of few words but feel compelled to write this review as my daughter is planning to finish her B.A. in Kathak soon. You never cease to surprise me, rather amaze me ,and every time I come back impressed with the depth and breadth and range of your performance and talent. One of the many things that makes this group unique is there are students with different levels of expertise (with or without previous dance experience), students who have always wanted to dance but for some reason could never pursue their passion, students who had to distance themselves from dance for some reason-Kaleidoscope Dance Academy brings them all together on one platform. It has been 4 years since I joined this dance group and it brings me joy in seeing it grow over the years as 1 big dance family. I take pride in our team and I highly recommend all those interested in reaching out to us. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of Kaleidoscope dance academy. On my very first dance class, not only I felt extremely happy and included but it felt like I revisited a long lost friend- a bond with dance. Guru Dipanwita Ma’am is an amazing teacher who always motivates and encourages us to do better at dance very patiently. I am really grateful to be a part of this community which is both creative and positive with amazing people to guide and celebrate.

I watched the dance drama performance, The Dance to Destiny, performed by Kaleidoscope. It was a mesmerizing journey of passion, creativity, and storytelling of a little girl. It felt as though she was fulfilling a long-awaited destiny, one shaped by her deep love for dance. It was like opening the pages of an unread book and going through the excitement of unknown emotions. The music of life was reverberated in every episode of the presentation from the beginning to the end. The elegant moves and the choreography were a new addition to the current dance styles representing a brilliant fusion of contemporary and classical styles. The dancer’s elegant movements -sprints, gallops, leaps, twists and turns were gracefully presented with defined gestures painting a vivid picture of expressions. The coordination of eyes, ears, body, mind, and the heart was choreographed with detailed attention. Besides techniques, the emotional depth elicited the connection with the music enriching the presentation. The costumes, lighting, the set design, and the synchronization of the performers perfectly complemented the choreography and impacted the storytelling. The “dance to destiny” was a captivating display of artistry, precision, and emotion, leaving me profoundly moved. Overall, the “dance to destiny” is a masterful expression of storytelling depicting a little girl's love and passion for dance transformed to dream and destiny.

My two daughters and me are learning Bharatanatyam and Indian Creative Dancing from Mrs Dipanwita Sengupta Roy since 2020. She has been such an inspiration to us. Her knowledge, techniques, and her dedication drives us to be more successful and sincere. She teaches both online and in person so that gives you lot more flexibility on your schedule. Finally, she is very humble, patient and down to earth which helps her new learners feel comfortable from the very first class. She always takes time to answer all your questions. I'd highly recommend Kaleidoscope for yourself and your family and friends, if you want to learn Indian Creative Dancing or Bharatanatyam.

I joined kaleidoscope creative dance class in 2023 as a beginner . I consider myself lucky to be part of this dance group and to be guided and taught by my very talented guru Dipanwita Sengupta who happens to be a good friend . I have grown as a dancer and this keeps me grounded . I would recommend this dance school which teaches bharatnatyam as a base and creative dance to one and all for all age groups .

I have been fortunate to learn Bharatnatyam and Creative Dancing under Guru Dipanwita Ma’am, and it has been a truly enriching experience. I’ve always wanted to learn an Indian classical dance form, and finding such an opportunity, especially while living abroad, is rare. Dipanwita Ma’am is an exceptional teacher who shows tremendous patience with her students. She focuses not only on the technical aspects but also on explaining the history, emotion, and spiritual meaning behind each movement. Even someone with no prior dance experience like me is able to grasp the skills easily. As students, we are also given the opportunity to perform at the annual recital, which is a wonderful event to showcase our talents and foster a spirit of collaboration. The Kaleidoscope community is warm and welcoming, making it easy for students to ask questions and share their thoughts. I am deeply grateful for the guidance I’ve received from Dipanwita Ma’am, and I highly recommend her to anyone interested in learning Bharatnatyam and creative dancing.
